THESE ARE THE DAYS
These are the days that must happen to you:
You shall not heap up what is called riches.
You shall scatter with lavish hand all that that you earn or achieve.
You but arrive at the city to which you are destined,
You hardly settle yourself to satisfaction, before you are called,
by an irresistable call, to depart.
You shall be treated to the ironical smiles and mockings of those who remain behind you.
What beckonings of love you receive you shall answer with passionate kisses of parting.
You shall not allow the hold of those who spread their reached hands toward you.

dawn awakenings
living life again,
i see my existence through
crystaline glass
clear of spirit
clear of body
clear of mind
my heart reflects
autumn’s grey drizzle,
yet feels the sun’s
ultraviolet rays
unseen in this spectrum
but felt in the next
my double reflection
my double perception
is magnified
through
living life
through
dawn awakenings

boom...blur...boom
it wanders in, visits my dream
awakened and vibrant
understanding through light and motion
it arrives
as it once did in nature
electronic transformations through the ether
cannot help but help understanding
this world and that one
the synapses of mind and matter become less distinct
as the frontiers dissolve, only memory remains
blur...boom...blur
i wander out, into the world
asleep and invert
confusion through sound and vibration
i depart
from my body into the ether
metallic resonation through the earth
cannot help but hurt completeness
that moment and this era
the contigencies of time and space become instinct
as the presence resolves, all physique subsides
boom....blur...boom...blur...bloom
seeing is hearing
knowing is creating
blur...boom...blur

Thoughts
June 14, 2001
Sharing and understanding one's vision of the world is what I see as a key point in my life. I have been fascinated by travel ever since I had the experience of arriving in Quito, Ecuador on New Year's Eve 1987. At the time I did not realize that I had any creative side, but I was well on my way to developing a unique point of view on the world.
---
Over the past six years since I put my first "home page" on the world wide web, I have been torn as both a creative person and a one person multi-national corporation (companies can go where they please, people or in economic terms, labor are more restricted by national boundaries) between showing my personal and creative side and keeping my professional work separate. By having an artist website as Travis Winn, an artist, I feel I can channel the creative energy that comes through me, not from me, as Socrates examined so many years ago.
---
When I was beginning my creative career a few years ago, I had a youndg woman emphatically explain the difference between design and art. I now know the difference as well as she pointed out. Art is from the heart, from within you, your vision of the world. Design is the creative ordering of something in order to serve a purpose, preferably in an aesctetic sense and in a creative way.

I love to explore the world, try it yourself sometime. It is as easy as letting go of what you hold dear: Your car payments, your cable bill, your movie dates, your Friday nights out on the town.
Sacrifice and live
a little, who knows what you may find. It has never been easier for people from the U.S.A. and many other developed and developing countries to open their eyes and see something a little different. :)
Live, give, see, experience.
It goes fast, use it. Time is precious.
